New TV!!

Been MIA here for awhile again. why? well, awhile ago, I got a new TV after the old old fail me.
Got myself a new 3D TV!!! Its look sooo nice in 3d!  and playing game in 3d is crazy nice, but too much of it give me a headache...
Now real life look so flat.....

JoeJo comic

I did not forget about Jeojo! I am doing some work with them. A little strip comic every month, or as monthly as I want it to be, I am going to force myself to draw this more often. This is just a rough sketch of the strip, the pink post-it is just carmen's edited words. Well, I better get back at finishing it now. Will post finish work here, or if you are form the studio, it will be in the newsletter.

I just got the game Uncharted 3!!!! Woohoo!!! been waiting for it to come out for like 2 years. I enjoy the first 2 and I am playing thur 3 now. so yeah, I will be right back!!

Robot Panda!!

Heres the robot panda that going to fight along side with JoeJo. Its just an early sketch of it, dont even have a name for him. and yes these are rainbow coming out of his fingers.

One of the first sketches of JoJo. Well, as you can see its actually two characters. I was going to call them Jo and Jo, but that's confusing. So they are Joe and Jo now. And yes, they are space sloth and space bunny from outer space!!! Yeah, everything is pretty random, and I like it that way. Next character to join JoeJo is a robot panda that shoot rainbow light form its fingers!! I will post it up next.

JoJo

I had this idea of a character call JoJo. I will draw him in a comic, been wanting to do it for a while now. So tonight I actually find the time to sit down, think about it and start to design him.
All I know is his name will be JoJo and he like to answer questions. I will post up some early design when I have something i like. So big plan for JoJo, hopefully I can get this started and see some finish comic soon.

The Dark Knight Rises - Catwoman

Cant wait for the new batman coming out this summer. Not a big fan of Anne Hathaway, hopefully she make a good Catwoman. I guess the goggles are the cat ears for Catwoman... and smiling Batman is creepy, Batman never smile.

Fall!!

I dive over a bridge to work every signal day. I always rush to work and driving in the dark when getting home, so I don't really look over the bridge often.  Today, I actually park my car and took the time to walk across that bridge.

Fall Is a beautiful time of year in Canada. They don't made the Canadian flag a red maple leaf for no reason. Its when the leave are changing colour and its just beautiful and depressing and the same time... depressing because you know the cold cold winter is one his way. :(

It was a nice walk on the bridge. Sometime is good to look at thing in a different perspective and stop and look at thing around you.



Drawing Monster Monday - inking

After I vector out all the line, I start to thicken my line quality. Its an important part of the drawing, as it give life to the drawing. It was fun inking it in adobe illustrator, but i still need to work faster at it. Next is the colouring, still not sure how i am going to colour this guy....

Drawing Monster Monday - vector line

I decide to use adobe illustrator to finish the monster, after all I need to get more practice. First I scan it in and trace all the lines with vector . I like using vector, some people hate it, but I got use to it and find it easier than a pen tool.  At this point, the drawing doesn't really look that good, I will thicken the  line in the next step.

After the all the scribbling of idea, I decide over a design and draw a rough in blue. At this point, I try to have all the expression and action rough out. Usually this is the quickest part, I try not to over think too much. I will just let my hand and pencil do the thinking.

Anyways, here's how I create a monster. Like everything I drew, I start with scribbling my idea. Well, it usually happen when I am really busy, either when I am rushing a deadline or doing lesson plan for tomorrow class. I would be so sick of doing my work and just drop everythings and draw a monster. I see it as taking a break. Some people like to eat during a break, or smoke, or take a shower, or watch TV, I like to draw monsters.....

Yes, its another blog from me. This one is just for my Portfolio class, so student can see each other work and learn from each other. I think that the most important thng about being an artist, to be able to learn and read into others artists' works. I wish this year portfolio well as they have alot of work ahead of them.

Hermit Crab



I drew a hermit crab. Its done in Adobe Illustrator. I just need more practice using the program and drawing in general. The top one is the rough I did with pencil, the colour one is the one I did in Illustrator.  I will add a background later.

Getting back to drawing

I need to draw more, I've been really lazy and didnt really draw much on my own. So I am forcing myself to draw more and post it here. Its going sketches of all thing random, random stuff that i just feel like drawing at that monment.

update and rants

Haven't been posting here for awhile. Summer camp at the studio had been keeping me busy and unexpected changes in the studio came up and I had to find a way around it. Its bad how I have change everything I planned, that included all my lesson plan for the next two months. It just happen during the busiest time of the summer when I need help the most. And yes, it happened a month or so ago, but i am still trying to cover the hole it left behind and the constantly finding the solution to fix the problem really really REALLY tiring me.

And I still need to cut my grass and weeds are everywhere in my lawn... ok, rant over.

Yo!

I drew this in under a minute. It was really quick and I wasnt really thinking, I just let the pencil do the thinking. He does look kind of creepy.... and i think I like shirt with stripe, but I dont own one at all...

I hate cutting grass. I usually cut it when I couldn't stand it anymore. The grow too fast sometime... This time the grass was soooo long, I think I might have trolls hiding in them. Yes, that's my lawn mower behind all the grass, its like a jungle...

Early poster concept

One of the early deign for my summer camp poster. I wanted to do an ice-cream truck with kids running after it, well, a summer camp truck, i guess...

I like it like this, but i need to put more information on it, and once I do that, I lost the whole design. Thing didnt look as clean and everything just look too busy. So I just leave it as it is and move on to a different design. I will use this for something else.

Been working on more tadpole boy, they will be all different and there will be alot of them! So this is just a screen shot of what i am doing... 5:20 in the morning....

Awhile ago, I design tadpole boy and find the colour is abit plain, so I change it. I think this look more stand out and its just more eye popping. He will be use for this year summer camp flyer, poster and all kind of thing in the studio for the next coming month.

Final Pirate

Finally finish inking it last nite. I then scan in photoshop to add black. Black is important in inking anything, it help frame your work and it guide the viewer where to look in your drawing. So I spend abit of time figuring out where to add black. I also change some of the composition of the jewellery in photoshop, but dont think you will notice it. lol. There are some area I still dont really like and bug me, but over all I kind of like how it all end up. Its not something I would draw everyday, manga is not really my thing, but its nice to know I can still do it.

Detail pirate face

Inking the face and Hair. Its alway fun to ink hair. I am almost done, just the body and fixing some line weight and done. I dont think it will be colouring this. at least for now. :)

After the clean blue, I start adding detail with my outliner. I wasn't sure what kind of line I should do it. It end up thicker than I like them to be. Took me abit over an hour to ink all the jewellery. My eye and back are killing me now. its 5 in the morning and I need to sleep. i will try to finish the rest tomorrow :)

Blue clean Pirate

Haven't post anything for awhile. I work on this pirate here and there abit, not until tonite I actually sit down with my coffee and finish all the detail in blue. Lately, I was kind of busy updating my website and all the summer camp poster and stuff. I will post all the new work later. Kind of feel sorry to leave her on my desk for so long. lol

During this stage,  I took the time to add all the details. Took me awhile, but it was fun. There are still some area I need to fix. But for now, I will let it sit for abit and go back to it later. Sometime if you work on something for awhile, you don't see the mistake. Step away from it for awhile and you will see it more clearly.

Its going to take me awhile to ink it.....

Blue rough Pirate

Drawing something I haven't do for a long time...Its been awhile I draw anything manga!  Just like other teenager, I used to read alot manga and watch anime back in the day. But after I got into animation, they got it out of my system....So its nice to revisit that manga me once in awhile, so that I dont lose it all!!

When I start a drawing, I usually like to rough it out in blue pencil first. Its easiler to pencil or ink on top of it and its also easy to deleted all the blue pencil line in photoshop.

In the coming days, I will finish the drawing, hopefully you will see the end result here.

Summer Camp wip

Yes, Tadpole boy is design for my summer camp poster and flyer, he will be all over the studio. Above its just a quick test to see if he work well with text and more stuff. I like the colour, but I think it will be too soft for the poster and flyer. Maybe i will use this colour for the website.

I draw him again in Illustrator. Just testing some colour and see how he look over all. Its ok, there is something i don't like about it, i don't know what. I guess i will put him in a different pose and see. Maybe in different colour too. I hate it when this happen, you know something is wrong but don't know what....

clean design

Kind of like the design of this drawing. Still not 100% sure about the eye, but the scale is what I want. Going to go over it in Illustrator and see how it look with colouir and all.

Tiger

Thats my cat "Tiger", he like to see what I drew. Everytime I get up from my drawing table, he would jump up right away and see what I drew. Sometime he will even sit on my lap and watch my pencil go. 

He seem to like Tadpole Boy. :)
