Blue rough Pirate

Drawing something I haven't do for a long time...Its been awhile I draw anything manga!  Just like other teenager, I used to read alot manga and watch anime back in the day. But after I got into animation, they got it out of my system....So its nice to revisit that manga me once in awhile, so that I dont lose it all!!

When I start a drawing, I usually like to rough it out in blue pencil first. Its easiler to pencil or ink on top of it and its also easy to deleted all the blue pencil line in photoshop.

In the coming days, I will finish the drawing, hopefully you will see the end result here.

Summer Camp wip

Yes, Tadpole boy is design for my summer camp poster and flyer, he will be all over the studio. Above its just a quick test to see if he work well with text and more stuff. I like the colour, but I think it will be too soft for the poster and flyer. Maybe i will use this colour for the website.

I draw him again in Illustrator. Just testing some colour and see how he look over all. Its ok, there is something i don't like about it, i don't know what. I guess i will put him in a different pose and see. Maybe in different colour too. I hate it when this happen, you know something is wrong but don't know what....

clean design

Kind of like the design of this drawing. Still not 100% sure about the eye, but the scale is what I want. Going to go over it in Illustrator and see how it look with colouir and all.

Tiger

Thats my cat "Tiger", he like to see what I drew. Everytime I get up from my drawing table, he would jump up right away and see what I drew. Sometime he will even sit on my lap and watch my pencil go. 

He seem to like Tadpole Boy. :)

Just some rough design I did with thte character, Just testing different eye and see how it fit with his emotion and all. I want his arm to be long, really long, but with short short leg. and of could he will be in blue!! Back to the drawing table with more design!!

The return of Tadpole Boy!

Last year at around Christmas, I drew a Tadpole boy for one of my buttons. Everyone think its weird. I think its weird too, but i like all think weird... Sooo, I dig him up and redesign him abit and hopefully he will become something much cooler and even more weirder...

Drawing Jesus and his Family

Was ask to redo a logo / flag thing for the church. Its the Holy Family, with Mary, Joseph and a young Jesus. Since its Easter, it fitting to post Jesus here other than a robot. (lol. Funny to use Jesus and robot in the same sentance...)

Its done in Illustrator, all vector. It was kind of fun working on it.  Maybe I will do more Saint in the future, just for a change...

Grayscale Robot

After Inking the robot, I scan it in the computer and add grayscale to it in Photoshop. This is the step I spend the least time on, but it add alot of depth to the drawing. I clean up some of the line in Photoshop as well. I also change the feet abit, before, the prospective was a little off, I lower and rotated the front feet, so now it make more sense.

Inking Robot

After the clean rough, I move on to inking the drawing. This is when It took most of the time. I use a pilot pen over a copy of my blue rough. I dont like to ink over my blue pencil, dont like how ink run on top of blue pencil line, sometime the ink will not going and the in like to go into all the pencil creases. So I ink over the color copy. I also change little thing here and there abit at this stage.

Cleaning up Robot

The next stage after my rough sketch is a cleaner rough. Adding more details and figure out how the robot work. Its when I have to make sure everything "work" together, adding structure to the whole drawing. I love this stage the most, its when everything become clear, from my brain to the paper. 

Rough Robot

I draw this sketch real quick. I was drawing some robot lately, just to shake off some rust off my drawing hands. I will finish this, not even sure it will end up anything like this. But it alway fun to see how a drawing change from the begining.

Painting exercise 01

  

Drawing is just like everything else, the more you do it, the better you get. Well, I dont draw enough and need to push myself to do more digital painting. So I drew random chinese landscape with a monster in it. Its digital painted in photoshop. It was kind of fun working on it, I guess I will do more random painting exercise in the future. below is just a close up of the monster.
